Da Nang Establishes the Da Nang Innovation Center

On the morning of November 2, 2026, the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology held a ceremony to announce the establishment of the Da Nang Innovation Center through the merger of the Danang Innovation Startup Support Center, the Da Nang Biotechnology Center, and the Danang Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence Center for Research and Training. The new Center officially commenced operations on November 1, 2026.

At the ceremony, the Department of Science and Technology announced the appointment decisions, appointing Mr. Nguyen Viet Toan as Director of the Da Nang Innovation Center, and Mr. Vo Duc Anh, Ms. Dao Thi Thanh Thao, and Mr. Dang Ngoc Minh as Deputy Directors. Decisions concerning personnel arrangements and the transfer and recruitment of public employees and employees to the newly established Center were also announced.

To ensure the Center's prompt stabilization and effective operation, the Director of the Department called for strengthened internal solidarity and close coordination in the handover and receipt of assets, financial resources, and records. He also stressed the need to urgently develop and promulgate the Center's operational regulations and accelerate the application of digital transformation in management and administration to address challenges arising from the Center's offices being located at multiple sites.

In addition to organizational consolidation, the Center was tasked with identifying clear objectives and solutions to help Da Nang rank among the country's top three to five localities in the Provincial Innovation Index (PII). The Department also requested that the Center proactively prepare its annual budget estimates and effectively mobilize research projects, science and technology tasks, and commissioned assignments to enhance operational efficiency and gradually improve the incomes of its public employees and staff.

In response to the Department's directives, Mr. Nguyen Viet Toan committed to focusing on five key priorities: rapidly stabilizing the organizational structure and fostering internal solidarity; ensuring a thorough handover and receipt of financial resources, assets, and records; leveraging the complementary strengths of the three former centers in research, technology transfer, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship; strengthening discipline and administrative order while ensuring the effective use of public assets; and proactively coordinating with relevant divisions, departments, and organizations to ensure the Center operates smoothly, efficiently, and sustainably.

The establishment of the Da Nang Innovation Center represents not only an important step in organizational restructuring but also an opportunity to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and consolidate resources for research and technology application. The Center is expected to contribute to advancing the city's innovation ecosystem and supporting Da Nang's socio-economic development objectives in the new period.
