The Department of Science and Technology in Da Nang has made extensive efforts to connect domestic and international resources, creating numerous innovative spaces. In 2023, the Vietnam Innovation Hub, part of the Innovation Complex, was launched at 179 Tran Hung Dao Street. This hub serves as a creative space, supporting startups on their entrepreneurial journey, expanding into the global market, and attracting investment. According to Le My Nga, Vice President of the Vietnam Innovation Hub in Da Nang, the hub has been in the works for many years, aiming to fulfill essential requirements for Vietnam's innovation ecosystem. It focuses on strengthening resources to enhance the startup ecosystem, with startups and digitally transformed enterprises being the main beneficiaries. In Da Nang, the Vietnam Innovation Hub will serve as a bridge, harmonizing with the national startup ecosystem to provide specific support through policies from the government and city authorities.
Also in 2023, as part of the Da Nang - Vietnam Innovation and Startup Connection program with Seoul, South Korea, the city's Department of Science and Technology collaborated with the Vietnam Innovation and Startup Network in Korea to introduce the "Da Nang - Seoul Innovation Space." Thuc Le, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, mentioned that this space will support elements within Da Nang's innovative startup ecosystem in Seoul, fostering collaboration and establishing specific programs between incubators, universities, startup support organizations, projects, and innovative startups in the city with partners in Seoul. It will also be a place for creative ideas, collaboration between the city's partners and Seoul, providing workspace and opportunities to use shared working spaces at D.Camp – a leading innovation space in Seoul.
With its modern facilities, convenient location, comprehensive ecosystem, and close connection to the Korean innovation scene, Da Nang's startups will have an ideal environment to promote creativity, development, and connections at the Da Nang - Seoul Innovation Space. This initiative also provides access to leading startup support programs in Korea, such as D.Camp and OASIS, as well as opportunities to connect with investment funds, experts, financial resources, technology, training programs, product development, and business expansion through the Vietnam Innovation Network in Korea and globally.
Nguyen Quang Phuoc, President of the Vietnam Innovation Network in Korea, shared that the launch of the Da Nang - Seoul Innovation Space will bring information about startups, policies, and the potential of Da Nang to investors and businesses in Korea. Simultaneously, the space in Seoul will allow Da Nang's enterprises to access investors and government support programs for startups in Korea. Apart from the space in Korea, the city's Department of Science and Technology, along with the Vietnam Innovation Network, also launched the Da Nang - Seoul Innovation Space in Da Nang, located at the Vietnam Innovation Hub building (179 Tran Hung Dao Street).
Furthermore, the Department of Science and Technology in Da Nang has established relationships and collaborated with the Innovation Center in Singapore, opening up opportunities for cooperation and connecting startup support organizations. Particularly, connecting with KilsaGlobal, an organization promoting business and investment in the Asia-Pacific region, will support accelerated development for startups. The collaboration focuses on building support programs, training courses, financial support, and startup events to create favorable conditions for encouraging innovative startup projects in Da Nang, developing markets in Singapore and the region through Kilsa's network. Through the startup innovation network in Da Nang, support will be provided to startups in Singapore and Kilsa to access the Da Nang and Vietnam markets.
Meanwhile, at the Singapore Republic Polytechnic, the Department of Science and Technology proposed establishing the Da Nang - Singapore Innovation Space in Da Nang and Singapore. The department hopes that the Singapore Republic Polytechnic will share its experience regarding how the government can support startup projects and how activities can be organized between the university and startup centers in Singapore. Cooperation between Da Nang and Singapore opens up opportunities for developing innovative startups for young talents, creating an environment for learning and business full of opportunities and potential. This collaboration is seen as the key to creating breakthrough startups, promoting sustainable economic growth in both Da Nang and Singapore.
