Da Nang DevDay: A Decade-Long Journey of Building the Technology Ecosystem

20 Apr, 2026    |    14 views

Starting as a small-scale tech event in 2015, Da Nang DevDay has grown into a leading non-profit information technology forum in Central Vietnam. In 2026, under the theme “AI x Human,” the event continues to affirm its role in connecting the technology ecosystem, while placing people at the center of the wave of artificial intelligence shaping the future.

DevDay – A Prominent Annual Technology Event

From “Developer Day” to a Regional-Scale Technology Festival

Mr. Markus Baur – CEO of Axon Active, the initiator of the idea and a long-time supporter of DevDay since 2015

Launched in 2015 from the idea of “Developer Day” initiated by Axon Active Vietnam, in collaboration with Duy Tan University and other local universities, DevDay began with more than 600 participants, focusing on programming skills and project management.

Over the years, the event has continuously expanded in both scale and quality, reaching 1,400 attendees in 2017, 1,700 in 2018, and surpassing 3,000 participants from 2023 onward—becoming one of the largest “technology festivals” in Central Vietnam. The program content has also evolved from foundational topics such as Agile and DevOps to emerging trends like blockchain, VR/AR, IoT, and especially artificial intelligence in recent years.

Notably, DevDay 2025 made a strong impression with more than 40 speakers, 38 in-depth topics, and a large-scale exhibition and business networking ecosystem, further affirming the event’s growing appeal to the technology community both domestically and internationally.

AI x Human – When Humans Lead the New Technological Era

Mr. Trần Ngọc Thạch – Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology, delivering the opening remarks

In his opening remarks, Mr. Trần Ngọc Thạch – Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology – emphasized that DevDay 2026 is a typical example of the effective “quadruple helix” collaboration model (government – academia – business – scientists), while also serving as a driving force for the city’s digital economy development strategy for the 2025–2030 period.

From a business perspective, Mr. Markus Baur – CEO of Axon Active – noted that as AI is rapidly transforming every sector, mastering AI is no longer optional but an inevitable requirement. In particular, the younger generation needs to combine AI capabilities with deep domain expertise to build sustainable competitive advantages in the future.

With the theme “AI x Human,” DevDay 2026 introduces a distinctive approach: not only focusing on technology, but emphasizing the role of humans within the AI ecosystem. The program explores leadership capabilities, systems thinking, and decision-making in “AI-native” organizations.

A Multi-Dimensional Space for Connection and Experience

One of the key factors behind DevDay’s lasting appeal is its role in connecting the ecosystem through the “quadruple helix” model. Through a diverse range of activities such as conferences, workshops, exhibitions, hackathons, and networking sessions, the event creates a dynamic environment where knowledge, businesses, and talent converge.

As Da Nang aims for the digital economy to account for 35–40% of its GRDP by 2030, DevDay is seen as a “practical launchpad” that contributes to driving digital transformation and innovation in the city. At the same time, it serves as an important bridge between high-quality human resources and the needs of businesses.

Leading the Technology Community in a New Era

From a small community event, Da Nang DevDay has evolved into a symbol of innovation and connectivity in the field of information technology. Its continuous growth in scale, content, and format demonstrates a strong ability to adapt to the rapid changes of the global tech industry.

After more than a decade of development, Da Nang DevDay is no longer just a technology event, but has become a platform that connects knowledge, people, and opportunities. From “Inspiring IT Movement” to “AI x Human,” this journey clearly reflects the transformation of the tech industry as well as the increasingly important role of humans in the digital era. With a vision for continued innovation, expansion, and integration, DevDay is expected to remain a strategic meeting point for the technology community, contributing to Da Nang’s ambition of becoming a leading innovation hub in the region.
