Harnessing the Role of Incubators

24 Dec, 2023    |    331 views

To enhance the success potential of startup projects, incubators in the city continue to improve the quality of support programs and nurturing initiatives.

For nearly four years of implementing the high-tech enterprise incubation program with five graduating projects, the Comprehensive Service Center of the High-Tech Park in Da Nang continues its support for these graduated projects. This support involves connecting them with investors and investment funds, boosting promotional activities, communication efforts, refining legal aspects of the business, and ensuring the stability of the business's product development. Particularly, the project "Solar Energy Waste Battery Processing and Recycling" received assistance from the Comprehensive Service Center of the High-Tech Park Da Nang, helping it secure a $200,000 grant from the U.S.-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership (USASCP, U.S. Department of State) and hiring financial consulting experts to efficiently utilize this funding.

In the post-incubation stage in 2023, the Comprehensive Service Center of the High-Tech Park Da Nang will continue to accompany projects by providing workspace support to create conditions for completing the model of the prototype product. Additionally, they will assist in early advisory services for the establishment of science and technology businesses. With the projects "Production of Products from Ngoc Linh Ginseng" and "Nympha - Blue Lotus Flower," selected in 2022, the center has connected these projects with investors, arranged investor visits to survey the cultivation areas of the Nympha project, and the laboratory for tissue culture in the production project from Ngoc Linh Ginseng. As a result, some investors have expressed interest in investing in these projects in the near future.

Mr. Tu Thanh Thuy, Director of the Comprehensive Service Center of the High-Tech Park Da Nang, stated that the Management Board of the High-Tech Park and industrial zones have issued incubation regulations and improved the project for leasing and arranging incubation space for incubation projects at the High-Tech Park. This initiative aims to promote incubation activities and facilitate government management of incubation. The Comprehensive Service Center of the High-Tech Park is operating the high-tech enterprise incubation workshop, thereby organizing connections with funds and investors, researching and producing products, and implementing experimental models for projects participating in the high-tech enterprise incubation program.

Activities at Song Han Startup Incubation Center

The Song Han Startup Incubation Center (SHi) has successfully completed six incubation programs and eight startup acceleration programs in recent years. In the upcoming period, SHi will continue to strengthen its acceleration programs, particularly for startups originating in Da Nang and expanding into the Central Highlands market. This initiative aims to help startups establish well-organized operational systems and attract investment capital. In addition to SHi's organized programs, SHi will collaborate with the Department of Science and Technology to provide acceleration support for businesses that still lack appropriate development directions. This collaboration aims to help these businesses strategize their business plans, ultimately building a brand for their ventures.

Meanwhile, representatives from the Da Nang Business Incubator (DNES) reported that in 2023, DNES collaborated with the non-governmental organization The Dariu Foundation (TDF) from Switzerland to organize two incubation courses for over 30 projects by students. Each project received funding ranging from 15 to 30 million VND to complete their products. Additionally, DNES digitized training and startup incubation programs, advised schools on establishing innovation hubs by organizing training courses for students and faculty. DNES also incubated five startup projects: FiveSS, an e-commerce platform specializing in construction and home care services; Siro Tr’đin, a producer of organic natural sweeteners; Fastdo, a performance management software; Vigift, a specialty gift distribution project; and Beans Community Hub, a community connection project.

It is evident that the common goal of these incubators is to further enhance activities that strengthen connections, successfully selecting high-quality projects for incubation and acceleration. They also collaborate with government agencies, business representative organizations, universities, and experts both domestically and internationally to provide support in legal matters, specialized knowledge, infrastructure, and facilities to promote the development of high technology and new technologies. This collaborative effort maximizes the utilization of local resources.
