Institute for FinTech Research, Training, Innovation, and Sustainable Development

On May 29, 2026, The University of Economics – The University of Danang officially announced the establishment of the Institute for FinTech, Innovation, and Sustainable Development. This milestone marks a new chapter in the University's commitment to advancing research, education, policy advisory services, and collaborative partnerships in the fields of digital finance, innovation, and sustainable development.

The event was attended by Hồ Kỳ Minh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Da Nang Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee; Lê Sơn Phong, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology; Phan Duy Anh, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Finance; Etienne Ranaivoson, Consul General of France in Ho Chi Minh City; representatives of municipal departments, agencies, and authorities; leaders of the Executive Board of the International Financial Center in Da Nang; representatives from Paris EUROPLACE and Tether; as well as international organizations, businesses, and experts in the fields of finance, technology, and sustainable development.

At the ceremony, the University officially announced the establishment of the Institute and presented appointment decisions to its leadership team. The Institute is expected to serve as a key hub for research, education, and resource mobilization in the fields of FinTech, digital finance, digital assets, green finance, and sustainable development.

Prof. Dr. Lê Văn Huy delivered a speech at the event.

In his remarks at the event, Prof. Dr. Lê Văn Huy, President of the University of Economics – The University of Danang, stated that the establishment of the Institute represents a strategic step toward meeting Da Nang’s development needs while further strengthening the University’s role in scientific research, high-quality human resource development, and policy advisory services.

According to its strategic orientation, the Institute will focus on three key areas. First, it will collaborate with the Executive Agency of the Vietnam International Financial Center in Da Nang to conduct research, develop policy recommendations, provide workforce training, and connect experts in the fields of FinTech, digital finance, digital assets, green finance, ESG, carbon markets, and international financial services.

In addition, the Institute will develop research products with practical applications for governance, operations, and policy experimentation. These include FinTech support toolkits, ESG disclosure frameworks, Green Taxonomy standards, carbon market databases, and risk management reports related to financial technology and digital assets.

The Institute will also strengthen international cooperation with leading partners in finance and innovation, including The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Paris EUROPLACE, to gain access to global expertise and enhance the quality of its research and training activities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hồ Kỳ Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, emphasized the significance of the event, noting that the establishment of the Institute comes at a crucial time as Da Nang intensifies its efforts to develop an International Financial Center and advance the growth of the digital economy and green finance sectors.

The Institute is expected to play a vital role in driving research, cultivating high-quality talent, and providing strategic policy advice to support the city's development in emerging industries and innovative sectors.

He further noted that the Institute represents an innovative model that will enhance research capacity, promote international collaboration, and strengthen the role of The University of Danang within the innovation and sustainable development ecosystem of Central Vietnam.
