Launch of the Automated Visitor Ticketing System at the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Site
On the afternoon of February 9, the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Preservation Center, in collaboration with Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Joint Stock Company (AIAIVN), organized the “Launch Event of the Automated Visitor Ticketing System at the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Site.” The event marked a new milestone in the application of digital technology to enhance visitor experiences and modernize heritage tourism operations.
This initiative is the result of prior exchanges, networking, and mutual agreement on cooperation between the two parties. Specifically, on February 3, 2026, within the framework of the meeting between city leaders and the innovative startup community—held to exchange ideas, discuss, and gather feedback for the City’s 2026 Innovative Startup Ecosystem Development Plan and organized by the Da Nang Startup and Innovation Support Center (under the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology)—the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Preservation Center and AIAIVN conducted discussions and reached a cooperation agreement.
The agreement establishes principles, orientations, and commitments for collaboration in applying Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI – GenAI) to enhance visitor experiences, optimize management operations, promote cultural activities in Hoi An, and contribute to promoting heritage values to the international community.

At the event on February 9, the two parties officially launched and put into operation a smart tourism solution system serving visitors to the Hoi An Ancient Town. A key highlight is the multi-language automated audio guide solution powered by GenAI technology, enabling visitors to access heritage information in a more intuitive, vivid, and flexible manner. By using their personal smartphones to scan QR codes, visitors can listen to audio commentary along designated touring routes, helping personalize their experiences and enhance the overall appeal of the visit.
In addition, smart ticketing kiosks have been deployed with multi-language support, integrated international payment options, and on-site ticket printing. This solution helps reduce pressure on traditional ticket counters, improve management efficiency, and facilitate a more convenient ticket-purchasing process for visitors. Initially, the system serves ticket sales for visits to the Hoi An Ancient Town and automated audio guide services; in the near future, it is expected to expand and integrate ticketing for nearby attractions.
The operation of these smart tourism solutions not only improves service quality for visitors but also helps build the image of Hoi An as a friendly, modern destination aligned with digital transformation trends. The solutions are designed based on the unique characteristics of the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Site, combining artificial intelligence technology with deep understanding of local cultural and historical values, with the goal of preserving heritage while promoting sustainable tourism development.
The program also demonstrates close and effective cooperation between heritage management authorities and technology startups, opening new approaches to digital transformation in the tourism sector in Hoi An in particular and the Central Vietnam region in general.
