Launch of the Daegu (South Korea) Technology and Innovation Showcase Space in Da Nang

On the morning of August 18, as part of the Da Nang Innovation Startup Festival – SURF 2026, the Launch Ceremony of the Daegu (South Korea) Technology and Innovation Showcase Space in Da Nang was held.

This significant international cooperation initiative marks a new milestone in the science, technology, and innovation partnership between Da Nang and Daegu, one of South Korea’s leading technology and innovation hubs. The event also concretizes Da Nang’s policy of strengthening international cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, contributing to closer connections between the local innovation ecosystem and international technology centers.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, stated that the launch of the Daegu Technology and Innovation Showcase Space in Da Nang marks an important milestone in the cooperation between the two cities, while opening a new chapter in international cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.

As Vietnam accelerates development driven by science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in line with Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, Da Nang has set the goal of building an “Innovation City” and developing an open innovation ecosystem with strong connections to the world’s leading technology hubs. The city aims to attract international resources, advanced technologies, and innovative businesses to invest, cooperate, and grow in Da Nang.

According to Mr. Ho Quang Buu, the Daegu (South Korea) Technology and Innovation Showcase Space in Da Nang will not only serve as a venue to showcase Daegu’s outstanding technologies, innovative products, and solutions, but also as a bridge for businesses, research institutes, universities, and startup communities from the two localities to strengthen connections, share experience, facilitate technology transfer, promote investment, and develop markets. The city expects the space to become a meeting point for new ideas, innovative businesses, investors, and startup support organizations from Vietnam and South Korea.

The idea for establishing the space emerged from cooperation activities between the Da Nang Innovation Startup Support Center and partners in Daegu, as part of a working trip to attend the FIX 2025 International Exhibition in South Korea in October 2025. During their meetings with the city of Daegu, the two sides discussed strategic cooperation opportunities in technology and innovation and agreed to promote the establishment of the Daegu (South Korea) Technology and Innovation Showcase Space in Da Nang. The initiative aims to strengthen business connections, facilitate technology transfer, and expand cooperation between the innovation ecosystems of the two cities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Baek Joseph, Head of the Daegu City Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the launch of the Daegu (South Korea) Technology and Innovation Showcase Space in Da Nang marks an important milestone, contributing to stronger connections and cooperation between the two cities.

He expressed his hope that the space would serve as a bridge for businesses from the two localities to share information, expand their networks, and explore cooperation opportunities in investment, technology, technology transfer, and market development. Through this initiative, cooperation between Daegu and Da Nang is expected to reach a new level, with more practical joint programs, particularly in the fields of economics and ICT.

At the event, delegates took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the Daegu Technology and Innovation Showcase Space in Da Nang. The program also featured the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between businesses from Da Nang and Daegu, opening up new opportunities for cooperation in research, product development, technology transfer, market expansion, and investment attraction.

At the program, representatives of the Daegu - Gyeongbuk ICT Association and the Da Nang Software Entrepreneurs Club also shared insights into the potential for cooperation between the technology business communities of the two localities, particularly in information technology, artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, smart manufacturing, and emerging technologies.

The launch of the Daegu (South Korea) Technology and Innovation Showcase Space in Da Nang not only contributes to deepening cooperation between the two localities but also reaffirms Da Nang’s commitment to building an open, internationally connected innovation startup ecosystem and positioning the city as an attractive destination for technology companies, investors, and innovation organizations in the region.
