In the entrepreneurship ecosystem, universities and colleges play a crucial role in shaping ideas, serving as nurturing grounds, and developing innovative concepts for personal and societal growth. With the efforts of universities and the support from the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology, entrepreneurship has formed a new wave among Da Nang students in recent years.

The City-level Student Scientific Research Competition

To boost the student entrepreneurship movement in the city, the Department of Science and Technology collaborates with the Youth Union and Da Nang University to organize various competitions, idea contests, and innovation entrepreneurship exhibitions. Events such as the City-level Student Scientific Research Competition and the Technology Entrepreneurship in Students competition have attracted numerous students. Many creative startup ideas have emerged and flourished from these competitions and entrepreneurship clubs. Several projects have demonstrated high applicability, yielding commendable results upon implementation.

In 2023, following the success of the "Technology Entrepreneurship in Students" in 2021 and 2022, the third edition of this competition garnered considerable attention from high school and university students across Da Nang. Projects covered various fields such as education, healthcare, services, tourism, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, finance, and banking. This competition not only provided a valuable platform but also an opportunity for young enthusiasts with innovative ideas to address community and societal issues, contributing to breakthroughs in economic and social development.

The competition acts as a bridge between businesses and startup projects. Participants are trained in technological entrepreneurship, receiving support and guidance from reputable startup experts and educators nationwide.

The project "Diagnostic Device and Leakage Monitoring Position in Liquid Pipeline Systems" by the student group including Ngo Dang Hung, Pham Thanh Vy, Duong Thi Thanh Ha (University of Education - University of Da Nang), Nguyen Van Vinh, Pham Phuong Nhi (University of Economics - University of Da Nang) outshone nearly 80 projects and secured the first prize in the third edition of the "Technology Entrepreneurship in Students" competition in 2023, organized by the Da Nang University Student Union.

The second prize went to the project "Water Tank Guardian," and the third prize was awarded to the project "Sign Language to Speech Conversion System for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People." Additionally, the projects "SACO - Smart Property Storage Cabinet with Facial Recognition" and "Active Search and Rescue Buoy" received encouragement awards. The organizers also presented special awards: the Popular Vote Award for the project "Smart Helmet - SMART SHIELD," the Potential Award for the project "TAMASA (Take-make-save)," and the Impressive Award for the project "diagnostic app for rice plants."

Recently, the startup and innovation movement among Da Nang students has become increasingly vibrant. This trend is not limited to universities within the Da Nang University system; private institutions are also fostering innovation in teaching, research, and campus-based entrepreneurship. The establishment of entrepreneurship support centers, such as BK Holdings - Duy Tan Innovation Center and the "Innovation Entrepreneurship" Center at Dong A University, contributes to making universities the nucleus in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Strengthening collaboration between universities, businesses, and the government is crucial to promote the development of the science and technology market.

These activities within the university have provided many advantages for students to research and realize their entrepreneurial aspirations. From these initiatives, outstanding entrepreneurial ideas from Da Nang students have been discovered and nurtured. Students with innovative ideas, creative innovations, and new business models have developed commercializable research projects or applied them in practice, establishing startup businesses and creating value for the community and society as a whole. It is hoped that in the future, more ideas and models will be formed directly from the lecture halls, providing students with a solid foundation for their entrepreneurial journey in the future.
